Ice Rink Gets a Makeover from Team Depot in Toronto
The High Park Community Facility in Toronto recently received a facelift thanks to the hard work of 30 Team Depot volunteers from across Toronto.
Associates from the Toronto SSC and four local stores participated, including Store 7013, Store 7011, Store 7134 and Store 7129. The project was made possible by The Home Depot’s partnership with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
Tom McCulloch, ASM and Team Depot Captain at Store 7013, led the extensive project, which transformed the look of the changing room facility in just one day. Volunteers painted the walls with a sharp-looking palette of white and Toronto Maple Leafs blue. In addition, a whimsical mural of maple leaves playing hockey (designed by an associate at Store 7013) was hung adjacent to the outdoor ice surface.
The community facility is used year-round by hundreds of residents who enjoy the park’s outdoor rink in the winter and swimming pool in the summer.
“Rink refurbishment projects are a great way to keep Team Depot active through the winter months,” says Tom, who has a pulse on local community activities that can be turned into Team Depot projects. “The High Park project was especially exciting because it will benefit people of all ages, and it celebrates our national sport.”
On Feb. 24, the Toronto Maple Leafs used the repainted facility as a dressing room for their outdoor hockey practice. All Team Depot associates who volunteered on the project were invited to attend.
