Associates Rush in to Help Following Tornado

Associates assist with damage clean upHome Depot associates always are at their best when people need us the most, especially after a storm or household emergency.

This Spring, associates from Store 3036 in Kirksville, Mo., rushed relief to residents just minutes after a tornado touched down near the store. Led by the store manager, Dennis Carbocci and assistant managers Jim Nugent and Kurt Beckman, the store relief team delivered flashlights, plywood, tarps, hammers, nails, water and generators to the disaster site.

“The team worked on six affected houses from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., boarding up, tarping roofs, and cleaning up debris,” Jim said. “Many associates came to the store on their day off to see how they could help.”

The next day, the team went out again, with the help of regional leaders and other store support teams. It was a joint effort, with department supervisors and other associates coordinating supplies back at the store.

“I talked to as many as 100 people in the affected areas, and they couldn’t believe how quickly our associates responded,” said Kirk Ames, district operations manager. “They all said that Home Depot showed up like an emergency response team.”
