Store Hosts Community at Emergency Prep Fair

EmergencyFair 6-4The Home Depot store 4413 near Salt Lake City, UT hosted an Emergency Preparedness and Safety Fair this summer. The community is on the Wasatch Fault, and neighbors need to be prepared for earthquake-related emergencies.

Shawn, a Hardware associate at 4413, partnered with four township councils to showcase equipment and family emergency planning. The K-9 unit demonstrated its prowess, and fire officials taught fairgoers how to douse a fire with a home fire extinguisher. Rocky Mountain Power showed a scale model of dangerous downed electrical lines and the best ways to avoid a tragic accident.

EmergencyFair2 6-4“More than 400 customers and community members stopped by,” said Shawn. The mayor of Salt Lake County was among the attendees.

Plans are underway for another fair next year.

This is AWESOME!!! We reaaly need more of these types of events throughout the country. Getting people prepared is the best thing you could do for them. It’s always better to be prepared then to be without and feeling lost.. Way to Go!!!
