Team Depot Canada Pitches In after Explosion
A massive explosion rocked north Toronto in August of 2008. Associates from Home Depot stores 7129 and 7134 mobilized to lead relief efforts in the days following the blast. Our associates distributed plywood and clean-up supplies to hundreds of impacted residents.
One year later, these same stores pitched in to improve a park that had been closed after the accident.
“Our customers asked us to return and help improve Ancaster Park, an important gathering place for the community,” said SM Steve Graseski of Store 7129. “We are thrilled to play an ongoing role in the community’s recovery.”
Associates built six planters and benches and painted the park’s existing benches. In September, they will return to build a pergola, providing shade to park visitors.
“The best part is seeing area residents – our customers – in our store, interacting with associates, and thanking them for making a difference,” Steve said. “It’s all about doing the right thing for our community.”
