A Home Depot Welcome for New Cincinnati Distribution Center

Cincinnati RDC 5084We opened a new, state of the art Rapid Deployment Center in Cincinnati, Ohio in August, and already this week we announced additional hiring for this growing facility. When we open a new facility—store or supply chain—we give our new associates a big Home Depot welcome.

There are no pretty ribbons to be cut, instead we kick things off with a loud Home Depot cheer and then pick up a power tool and saw a 2×4 in half!

Rapid Deployment Center (RDC) 5084 opened with a traditional Home Depot Board-Cutting Aug. 19. The newest addition to our Supply Chain will help us improve service and increase efficiency for more than 100 stores  in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. By 2010, this location will process millions of cartons a year.

Part of the new team at RDC 5084This site is part of a larger program to improve our supply chain, making it easier for our stores to keep the right products in stock when our customers need them. The Cincinnati RDC is the eighth of about 20 facilities we are launching nationwide as part of this program.

Ken Roe, general manager, says that the more than 100 new associates at RDC 5084 are excited about launching the operation and are prepared to deliver superior customer service to their stores.

“Collectively, our team possesses more than 278 years of distribution management experience,” he said. “To top it off, we are providing all our leadership team with another 200-400 hours of applied training at another Home Depot RDC to give them the practical Home Depot experience they need in order to hit the ground running and be successful.”

    I’m a 17 year employee of THD with a double masters degree in organizational mgmt. / A.D.R., who’s looking to move from the operation side of the “Orange box” to the logistics side. It seems to be a challenge. I’m excited to see the re-birth and more cost effective measures that are being put into place to effect a more timely delivery of product to the stores, which saves overall in the long run by delivering product sooner and elimating out of stocks which increase sales, customer loyality, etc…Any knowledge of any other RDC’s opening in the Texas area?
