After School Program gets Hands On

After School Program Visits Store

Store 1549 in Morrison, Colo., recently saved the day for a teacher who wound up in a sticky situation – a busload of kids with nowhere to go. It all started when the director of an after-school program at a local elementary school called the Morrison store and reached associate Lora Pratt with an urgent request.

The program director had arranged to have 40 of her summer kids to participate in a program the very next day, which had been cancelled without any notice.

The caller wondered if The Home Depot would be willing to throw together one of our famous Kids Workshops for her 40 kids the very next day.

Lora immediately connected the caller with Store Manager Kerry Engelson, who said that The Home Depot would be glad to host an impromptu workshop for the group.

Lora, who had received the call originally, quickly volunteered to change her schedule for the next day so she could be at work to run the workshop for them. The class of 40 kids came the following day and had a great time. They even took a Kids Workshop sign-up sheet to post at their school so other kids could come to our regularly-scheduled free workshops the first Saturday of each month.
