Wedding Bells at the Sante Fe Home Depot

We often hear stories of loyal customers who request The Home Depot play some role in their weddings. One couple last year had met in our lumber department, and used the Home Depot logo in their ice sculpture at their reception. The following story from store #3503 in Sante Fe, N.M., takes this concept much further.

Weddings always bring a tear the eye…or is that a spec of sawdust?

Customers Colin and Kristine requested for store #3503 to host their wedding ceremony – right in the middle of the store’s millwork department! The store took the request as quite an honor and rallied to create a very special moment for Colin and Kristine.

Why get married in the middle of our store? The area human resources manager, Florence, indicated that the couple wanted to hold their wedding at The Home Depot Sante Fe because they spend so much time at the store they love, and they were hoping their guests would take the hint from the couple and purchase Home Depot gift cards as wedding gifts!

The store welcomed the couple and their guests on the special day. The store provided seating and configured a door display so that the groom could carry the bride across the threshold. Steve, one of the associates, put together a floral arbor using products from the store. The bride, groom and all the guests were dressed in costumes from Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

After the wedding, Kristine wrote this letter to Store Manager Steve Andognini:

Dear Steve:
We just wanted to say thank you so much for facilitating our wedding at The Home Depot! We had a wonderful time, as did every one of our guests. It was wild, wacky and absolutely perfect for us. Steve in Millwork – we really felt that he outdid himself. The location was just gorgeous, far more than we had imagined. He even set up a threshold for us to walk over.

We know it must have been a very odd request, but your team really stepped up to the plate and helped us create memories we will treasure for the rest of our days. We cannot say it enough, but thank you, we loved every moment.
We will certainly remain loyal and devoted Home Depot customers.
