50,000 Watts of Sound Home Improvement Advice

When John Gordon, director of Sales and Services marketing at The Home Depot, took a few questions about home improvement fifteen years ago on WBT radio in Charlotte, N.C., he had no idea it would lead to a weekly on-air gig.

Now John spends part of each Saturday as host of the station’s popular “The Home Improvement Show,” doing what all Home Depot associates do best – helping customers with questions about maintenance, repair and home improvement projects.

John’s 28 years of experience, including his time as a store manager in Charlotte, make him uniquely qualified for the weekly broadcast. But his love for home improvement is the reason he so willingly gives up his free time to help thousands of homeowners.

“Some people enjoy golf or fishing as a pastime,” John said. “Hardware, radio and helping homeowners are my escape.”

John sometimes makes the trip from Atlanta to Charlotte to do the show, but most times he broadcasts from a studio right in his basement. He rarely misses a show, even calling in from vacation a few times over the years.

“After all, the callers can have some pretty entertaining questions,” John said.
