Michigan Stores Share their Know-How at Symposium
Two Home Depot stores in Michigan sparked a lot of interest at a recent symposium for women recovering from, or currently diagnosed with, breast cancer. Our associates were on hand to showcase some of the products we carry that help to make our homes a healthy place to live.
The symposium, held at The Community House in Birmingham, Mich., was sponsored by Beaumont Hospital, a regional medical center. A physician who specializes in homeopathic medicine dispensed advice to the more than 175 women attending.
But it was The Home Depot table that grabbed the most attention. The attendees were fascinated to learn what they could do to make their homes a safe and eco friendly place, especially those who were undergoing treatment or recovering from recent surgery.
Four associates from Store 2743 in Lake Orion and Store 2706 in Troy joined District Manager Julie Giattino at the display table. The group displayed merchandise from Electrical and Garden, and a rep from Glidden shared information on the Freshaire Choice paint line. The table also featured SmartStrand carpet.
The associates gave away baskets with organic potting soil and gardening gloves, and CFL light bulbs.
“It was very rewarding – these women are so courageous,” Julie said. “We need to continue to reach groups who don’t realize the variety of healthy home products that we currently offer.”
