NY State Names Dec. 10 ‘Home Depot Foundation Day’

State Proclaims Home Depot Foundation DayDecember 10, 2009 was proclaimed The Home Depot Foundation Day by the New York State Assembly. The official State Citation was presented at a ribbon cutting for a new WNY AmeriCorps “Framing Hope Warehouse” in Buffalo.

The new warehouse offers building and renovating materials to local non-profits at a low cost. It’s the first such warehouse in the nation, as part of The Home Depot Foundation’s “Framing Hope” program. The Foundation donated $364,000 in total grant funds and in-kind product donation to get the warehouse prepared for business.

State representatives were on-hand at the ribbon cutting to tour the facility and to proclaim December 10, 2009 “The Home Depot Foundation Day”.

“We appreciate the recognition of our work in The Empire State,” said Kelly Caffarelli, President of The Home Depot Foundation, via Twitter Friday.

Non-profit organizations interested in touring the warehouse and purchasing materials should contact WNY AmeriCorps at (716) 558-3325 to set up an appointment.

“The “Framing Hope” program helps Buffalo residents who are living in homes and apartments that are inhabitable. It offers encouragement to the desperate and forgotten who are so grateful that we care enough to give them the tools to create a safe and secure environment for their families,” said Cindy Hallberlin, President and CEO of Gifts In Kind International.

It’s nice that home depot participates in such nice activities and hires people to blog about it.

Yet, I received terrible service from my home depot. They scheduled delivery and wouldn’t deliver. And what’s worse is the store employees would not take calls during the day to check on our delivery. The online Home Depot customer service promised $$ would be given to us by management, but was not. Then online customer service (Michael) ignored all complaints about us not receiving what we were promised.
