Kids Workshop hits the Road in Alton

Alton Memorial Kids WorkshopMany children at the local Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL were able to experience the joy of The Home Depot’s Kid’s Workshop thanks to Maudie, an associate at Home Depot store 6920 who seems to know everyone in the tri-county area. After receiving the suggestion from Operations Manager, Brian, to take the workshop on the road, Maudie took this great idea and made all of the arrangements to make it happen.

Maudie coordinated volunteers from the Alton store to set up and facilitate the workshop. Santa (Randy – Store Mgr) and Mrs. Claus (Maudie) were there along with Homer and the Kid’s Workshop Crew.

The kids had their very own workshop at the hospital, which partnered with St. Louis Bread Company to donate one-half the cost of 200 cookies.  Maudie continues to be the advocate in the Alton Home Depot store for community involvement and has done an excellent job. The Alton Home Depot is exemplifying one of our core values, “Giving Back”.

I really enjoy stories like this. It is a beautiful thing to know the kids in the hospital were able to be a part of the kids workshop. I mean, kids love that ! This was a super cool idea.
