Team Depot Finds it’s Fun to Stay at the Y.M.C.A.

An enthusiastic group of 181 associates from Home Depot District 234 showed up in force for a large project recently in Woodstock, Ga. Team Depot volunteers spent a long weekend renovating seven cabins used by the Cherokee Outdoor Family YMCA in its summer and special programming. The project required two days of hard work (and an equally grueling prep day), including painting (interior and exterior), tearing out and replacing all of the flooring, building and installing new stair treads, replacing the trim and baseboards, installing new bathroom fixtures and hanging new blinds.

“I had so much fun! This was the most amazing Team Depot project I have ever been part of,” said Team Depot Captain Marcelle.

It was a Home Depot family effort, as associates from all 11 stores in the district joined the entire district Human Resources team, the Global Sourcing team and the Merchandising Execution Team.

“There was a fleeting thought that this project might be too big, that there might be too many people to manage and that the timeframe might be too short. In great Home Depot fashion, which fits well with the work ethics at the YMCA, I would say that we knocked this one out of the park for a grand slam!” said YMCA Executive Director Toby Bramblett in a thank you letter to Team Depot volunteers.

“The enthusiasm, the teamwork and the selfless nature of the Home Depot team was nothing short of extraordinary.”
