The Boys & Girls Club Gets a New Look, Thanks to Team Depot
Associates at Store 501 in Beaumont, Texas, helped a customer give back to her community when no one else in the neighborhood would help her.
The customer came into the store and asked for a donation to help remodel a gym that was being turned into a Boys and Girls Club. She had approached several local businesses, but they turned her down.
Having no luck on her home turf, she drove to another county and made The Home Depot her first stop. Team Depot Captains Bill and Mike, found out about the customer’s plight and immediately went into action to make the project a Team Depot event.
More than 15 associates participated in the nine-hour renovation event, which included assembling and painting new cabinets, installing multiple light fixtures and ceiling fans, and even building a custom desk for the instructor’s office.
Bill and Mike also secured carpet installers to donate and install indoor/outdoor carpet, and Glidden donated 15 gallons of paint and primer.
“This project was a huge success,” Bill said. “For the first time since 1953, the Hardin County Boys and Girls Club members have a new learning environment.”
